What are SATs?

SATs are statutory assessments carried out by all state schools. They assess how your child’s abilities compare nationally with other children in the same year group.

Your child will be assessed at Key Stage 1 (KS1) during Year 2, at age 7.

Further SATs testing takes place at Key Stage 2 (KS2), when your child will take part in National Curriculum tests in English, maths and the new grammar test at the end of Year 6 (usually age 11).

Following the introduction of the more challenging Primary Curriculum in 2014, the 2017 KS2 results reflect a move away from reporting levels. Pupils received test results as a scaled score and teacher assessments based on the interim framework. _Expected standard _is ‘age related’ and _greater depth _is above age related expectations.

2019 Results

67% of pupils reached the expected standard in reading, writing and mathematics compared to 65% nationally.

10% of pupils reached greater depth in reading, writing and mathematics combined compared to 11% nationally.

81% of pupils reached the expected standard in reading compared to 73% nationally.

29% of pupils reached greater depth in reading compared to 27% nationally.

81% of pupils reached the expected standard in writing compared to 78% nationally.

24% of pupils reached greater depth in writing compared to 20% nationally.
